Q: What is FiberClay™ material? FiberClay™ material is a co-product of pulp and paper production. Common components of FiberClay™ material include inorganic fillers such as kaolin clay and calcium carbonate, and cellulose fiber, organics and other components. The relative proportions of these components vary according to the manufacturing process. FiberClay™ material is available without additional processing to customers or can be further processed to manufacture selected value-added products. FiberClay™ material is a uniform, non-toxic, non-hazardous material that complies with federal, state and provincial regulations. Q: Where is FiberClay™ used? There is almost no limit to the creative use of FiberClay™ material, from soil amendment to "absorbants," to kitty litter, to animal bedding, as a fuel supplement, to cement processing, and numerous agricultural soil enhancements. FiberClay™ complies with all USA state and federal regulations and all provincial regulations of Canada and EU standards for Europe. Q: Are there different classes of FiberClay™ material? Yes, for full details you will need to contact a FiberClay Council® member near your geographic location. In general. FiberClay™ material has differing levels of moisture and kaolin content from granular material at 8% moisture to moisture of 50%. Q: Where can I buy FiberClay™ products? Since FiberClay™ material is a co-product of the production of paper and paperboard, material is always in supply. Q: Is FiberClay™ available in Europe? Yes. Several Council members have production locations in France, Spain and other Western European countries. Q: What is behind the statement that FiberClay™ material completes the cycle of sustainability? All FiberClay™ is produced as a co-product with paper making. Major materials used in paper making started with wood fibers and kaolin for selected paper. FiberClay™ returns 10 land amendments the material that started as tree fibers.
