FiberClay™ product is made using proprietary processes where residuals from papermaking are pressed and dried into fibrous soil-like absorbent granules. The web site contains information about this new products its use in household, agricultural, industrial and civil engineering applications. The Web site also seeks to educate the public at large and government officials about the inherent safety and benefits of FiberClay™ product as a viable alternative to materials presently in use and, to provide them with information to help debunk misconceptions about the product’s nature. FiberClay™ product is well suited for use in both commercial and consumer applications because it is safe, non-hazardous and complies with the many stringent regulations established by Federal, State and (Canadian) Provincial governments. The goal of the Web site is to get the word out about the many uses of FiberClay™ material for varied household applications such as cat litter, animal bedding and garage oil spills. Industrial applications range from spill absorbents to chemical solidifiers. Civic uses run the gamete from road lining components to landfill capping material. The new Web site marks the first time the FiberClay Council® has attempted to reach out to the public about FiberClay™ material. According to Roger Bognar, Council Executive Director, “…Until now our association has had limited public awareness of the products and services produced by our members. Members of the FiberClay Council® want to let the public know about the substantial recycling investments made to produce high quality recycled-content paper products, and now environmentally-progressive FiberClay™ products that have a broad range of important applications..” . The Web site makes the point that over 65% of all the paper products now manufactured the United States are made in part, or entirely from recycled cellulose fibers. FiberClay Council® members use papermaking fibers from harvested resources and/or fibers from paper recycling-as the raw material to make FiberClay™. The Council’s site, www.fiberclaycouncil.org, goes on to reiterate that FiberClay™ products take recycling to the next step--Now instead of only utilizing the cellulose fibers in recyclable paper, the other components can now be made into useful products. This new level of recycling prevents millions of pounds of recycling residual materials from being disposed of as waste in landfills each day. The production of FiberClay™ product is the result of using virtually all of the valuable ingredients in recyclable paper to make an entirely new, environmentally progressive material that is sustainably made and ideal for use in numerous agricultural, consumer, commercial and civic applications.
